Forgive me for all the bedroom posts but as I'm still in dire need to do up my neglected bedroom, this seems to be all the research I have been up to recently.
I don't know what it is about the arches, but it gives the sleep area a sense of spatial coziness. A lowered ceiling and a space created as if you have to crawl into your own cave to hibernate for months and months.
The arch itself becomes the cocoon that protects you while you rest, keeping you warm and
safe while you catch those zzzz's.
I don't know about you guys, but I seem to have this thing about feeling enclosed while you sleep, perhaps the reason why I sleep with pillows on either side of me. Maybe I really need to get that canopy bed, because arches are out of the question in my house.
(Just check out that texture on the ceilings/ arches/ walls of the top photos. *drool* )
Photos from desire to inspire, houzz, house to home and more.
